Liverpool City Council has appointed Drivers Jonas as part of a panel to carry out a development study for the Stonebridge Cross area in Croxteth, Liverpool.

The site, totalling 62 acres, is one of the most significant council-owned sites in the city.

The council has appointed Drivers Jonas, Planit-ie, Waterman Boreham and DK Architects to work on the development study.

The site is opposite Stonebridge Park, which is now a park-style business location developed by St Modwen and Liverpool Vision.

Simon Bedford, partner, from Drivers Jonas, said: “The site is a hugely attractive opportunity for any developer, with good links to the motorway network and as a north eastern gateway to the city centre.

“Our study will help the eventual masterplan to balance the individual requirements for housing, employment, retail and leisure while ensuring the space is developed in a sustainable way.”

Councillor Peter Millea, executive member for assets and development at Liverpool City Council said: “Previous plans for the Stonebridge Cross site were halted by the economic climate so the Council took the opportunity to take a fresh look at the site, with a particular emphasis on engaging with the local stakeholder community. I am looking forward to the conclusion of this piece of work so that we can then put our new ideas to the market”.
