The Olympic Park Legacy Company (OPLC) has called for expressions of interest from parties interested in using the Olympic Stadium after the London 2012 Olympic Games.

It said today: “Organisations or consortia, interested in managing, operating in, or locating to the Stadium after the London 2012 Games will have eight weeks to come forward with their interest and initial views. This could include sporting, community, education, visitor attraction and commercial uses.”

Deciding the future of the main venue of the Games is one of the legacy company’s top priorities and it aims to “reach a settled position by the end of March 2011”.

Andrew Altman, chief executive of the Olympic Park Legacy Company (OPLC), said: “The Olympic Stadium is a truly iconic structure that should be a focal point for sport and community-led events including schools, clubs and creative and social enterprises.

“A successful stadium legacy is vital to the company’s long term aspirations for the Olympic Park. We want to provide local people with significant improvements in health and well-being, education, skills and training, job opportunities, cultural entitlements, housing, social integration and environment.”

Interested parties must consult the memorandum of Information published by the legacy company’s which provides the full “stadium detail and data, the vision for the wider Olympic Park and instructions for formulating a response”.

It said: “The memorandum includes possible options for varied capacity and design configurations. These are not exclusive as the OPLC is open to other technically-feasible and commercially-viable approaches. The memorandum also summaries the 2012 Games’ Bid commitments relating to the stadium and invites interested parties to respond accordingly. The company will consider the extent to which any long term solution reflects the intent of the 2012 bid”.

The call for expressions of interest has been published on the Official Journal of the European Union.

The soft market testing will be completed by the middle of June, at which point the company will move to the next stage of securing the Stadium legacy, which could then include a public procurement exercise.

Interested parties can access the MOI and register their interest by clicking on the Olympic Stadium Soft Market Testing box on the Company’s website at www.legacycompany.co.uk
