Green light for £4.5bn Brent Cross Cricklewood scheme

29/10/10 10:31 am By Nick Johnstone

The £4.5bn regeneration of Brent Cross and Cricklewood has been given final planning consent by Barnet council after 10 years of preparation.

Hammerson is set to develop the north-west London scheme with investment from Standard Life, covering 250 acres over the next 20 years.

The consent includes section 106 payments of around £1bn on infrastructure and follows a resolution by the council in November 2009 to let the scheme go ahead.

It is being tipped as one of the largest section 106 agreements in UK history and includes transport and waste infrastructure, such as new train and bus stations.

The regeneration includes a 592,000 sq ft extension of Brent Cross shopping centre, 7,500 homes, the redevelopment of three schools and 4m sq ft of offices.
