Greater Manchester inward investment agency MIDAS has hired Angie Robinson to replace Colin Sinclair as its chief executive.

Robinson joins MIDAS from Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, where she has been chief executive since its formation in 2004.

Tim Newns, MIDAS’s director of business development, will become the agency’s deputy chief executive as part of the restructuring.

Sinclair, who handed in his notice in January, has been chief executive of MIDAS for five years. He will take up a role as special projects director with local developer Bruntwood.

Chairman of MIDAS Michael Oglesby said: “Angie and Tim will make an excellent team combining their very different but complementary skills to the vital task of bringing new jobs to the city region in tough economic times.

“Angie is a high profile member of the Manchester business community and brings with her to MIDAS a wealth of experience in corporate and public sector.”
