Walsall Regeneration Company appoints three
Walsall Regeneration Company has announced the appointment of three new directors to its board: John Murray, Richard Meere and Martin Baxter.
Murray is past president of Walsall Chamber of Commerce, Meere is a former managing partner at Walsall-based lawyers Enoch Evans, and Baxter is a development director at Shaylor Developments Limited, part of the West Midlands-based Shaylor Group.
WRC is an urban regeneration company, responsible for promoting and the regeneration of large areas of Walsall, including the town centre, Walsall Gigaport, Walsall Waterfront South and the Darlaston Strategic Development Area.
Councillor Mike Bird, leader of Walsall Council and WRC board member, said: “While the economic climate continues to be challenging, the board appointments are an important part of maintaining the momentum of the work of WRC.
“We recognise that while we are seeing cranes springing up on the skyline of Walsall, and the level of development activity in the borough compares favourably with anywhere else in the Black Country and the West Midlands, it is important for our board to have a strength and depth across a range of disciplines and skills.
“We are delivering an ambitious regeneration programme, so we are very pleased that the skills-sets we have added to our board are precisely those we need to help us through the challenges that lie ahead.”
“Walsall as a town centre is vitally important but let us not forget that we are also working tremendously hard to boost district centres too.”
