Plans to give the Mayor of London more powers over development and the Olympics are to be unveiled at London’s City Hall today.

The new coalition wants to devolve power from central government to the London mayor Boris Johnson, with proposals expected to include scrapping the London Development Agency and moving its powers to the Greater London Authority.

The functions of the Olympic Park Legacy Company are also set to be subsumed into a new development corporation run by the Mayor.

The announcement is understood to be taking place later today, at the first convening of the congress of London borough leaders since the General Election on 6 May.
